When you make waffles with this digital waffle iron, you create the popular Japanese and Korean Taiyaki waffles. These waffles are made from a pancake batter and have space to add a filling. The shape of Taiyaki waffles is usually a fish because, in Japan, it symbolises happiness. After baking, you can fill the Taiyaki waffles with traditional red bean paste or something different, such as cheese, chocolate or custard.
